Google is the new Yellow Pages. Or, Snowblower Rant
I have a snowblower that needs fixing, and am having a surprising amount of difficulty finding someone in my area who can fix it. Within my predicament lies the foundation for today’s video post. Which is more of a rant, really.
I must say I felt much better after getting that recorded. Rants can be somewhat cathartic.
So, anybody know a good snowblower repair place in the Kalamazoo, Michigan area?
UPDATE It’s funny, but today–the day after I posted this rant–the blog iMedia Connection has published an article about this very topic–with some numbers to back it up. It’s called “Yellow Pages loses fans to search-engine enthusiasts” and you should check it out at http://www.imediaconnection.com/news/21680.asp .
UPDATE 2 Comments closed on this post because it looks like some folks are exploiting my dofollow comment policy without really adding to the conversation. (Your folks named you Foreclosure Plan? Really? Yeah, didn’t think so.) I talk more about this in a newer post on establishing a comments policy.

I like Google maps when I want to force google to give me localized results.
BTW, did a quick check for “snowblower repair kalamazoo” on google and the number one (web, not maps) hit has changed over the last couple of weeks.
Ha! That is hilarious and wrong.
Good point about Google Maps, in that it is helpful in finding the businesses. It still doesn’t address the whole tell-me-what-I-want-to-know problem, but it does save a few steps in getting contact info.
It’s also distressing that in the Google Maps search for “snowblower repair Kalamazoo”, the only result for a business that actually is in Kalamazoo is a review on ripoffreport.com.
Can you provide more information on this?
I would be happy to. More information on what, precisely?
Unless you’re just looking or linkjuice…?
